Are You Kidding Me? JAN. 6, 2006

I just got back from a conference in Nashville called Passion 06 and I am honestly speechless as I think about my experience. If you know nothing about it, 18,000 college students and twenty-somethings from all over came together and pretty much shut down Nashville's downtown area. We met in an arena and had bands and speakers all week. I loved it and met some amazing people and saw some of my favorite bands, but I had a huge realization while I was there, too.

Do you understand just how small we are? Not only are we just one of thouands in our city, state, etc. but think even about planet earth. We are just one planet out of 9. But how about this- The size of our universe compared to our milky way galaxy comes out to equal about the size of a quarter on the United States . Holy crap. Are you kidding me? If you continue traveling light years away (do you know how flippin long a light year is?) you see still more and more. I can't fathom just how huge God is. Go look at www.hubblesite.org for some of the most amazing pictures you've ever seen. Here's one-

this is actually a dying star- how amazing is that? Death can actually be beautiful, especially when you have something to hope in. Knowing that God is big enough to create the universe, but also small enough to know and love each one of us intimately is insane. Knowing that He sent Jesus Christ to forgive and free us and our sucky idiotic selves floors me. Here's the coolest thing ever, though. This is a picture of the Whirlpool Galaxy-

It is 35 million LIGHT YEARS away from us. And how about this...hubble got a shot of the core of this galaxy and check it out-

YEP, that looks like a cross to me, too. WOW. God is too cool.
