Yesterday I was teaching at a school when I heard an announcement that the “black history luncheon” would be kicking off at 11:30. That just so happened to be my break time so I got pumped to check out what that would consist of. Dude, best day ever. All I had brought for lunch was some p-nut butter crackers that had gotten crushed up in my bag, so I was up for any kind of free food they’d give me. Well, I roll up in there to a giant table of what they called “soul food” & some sweet jams. I’m talking I was grooving/singing down the buffet line to marvin gaye & smokey robinson. What!? And let me tell you about the menu- fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, butter beans, cornbread, collards, green bean casserole, banana pudding, and a bajillion other things. I freaked out. They also literally had bbq’d pig’s feet & fat back (why they naming a food after me? Baaaaaha, sike). I didn’t venture into those delicacies, but I’m sure they were…. delish. What a great day!!!
Tracy: “I wish every day was Negro day.”
Seaweed: “In our house, it is!”
On a sad note, I somehow lost the jewel in my belly ring that I’ve had for literally years & years. It was a pretty light pink little sparkly bling that I’m going to miss very much. I got a new clear one- keeping it classy. It’s pretty. I don’t care if belly rings are totally 1990s- I love that thing & it’s not coming out until I get pregnant. Cuz that would just look weird.
Also, keeping it girly talking about belly rings & such, I just want to say that brazilian waxes hurt like a mo-fo. They don’t really get easier/less painful, either. Yay. I may need to take someone’s advice & take a few shots before I go next time. Who wants to be my DD? Ha. Even with all the crap we have to go through I absolutely love being a girl. It rules. Girl powa- spice up your life.
