let me catch my breath for a minute. i haven't stopped or slowed down for about 2 weeks now, phew. things have been crazy awesome lately- God is amazing & His favor is insane like i can't believe.
i wrote about some of the great things that have happened in my last blog so i won't revisit them, but i will say that i won 2 more tickets to jimmy eat world so i got to invite more friends to go with me! and get this- we were FRONT ROW. who would have ever thought that i'd get to see my very favorite band front row center? wow. it felt like they were singing directly to us- like our own private concert. jim smiled & pointed at us some & the guitar player laughed a good bit at our crazy dance moves to "here it goes." it was the best.
tori got me a ticket to lydia & she's actually going to take me to the concert for my birthday- what a wonderful present. i don't have to go by myself after all!
i worked the casting calls for "nailed" & that went well, also. met all kinds of neat people : ) i've been working a little in the casting office in the afternoons after teaching school. hopefully i'll get to work on the film a bit and help get some of my friends & family work, as well. we'll see.
meanwhile, i was invited to go on a mission trip to Pearlington, Mississippi to help rebuild some homes that were devastated by Katrina a few years back. my broker is going to pay my way- amazing. that'll be in late May. can't wait.
and speaking of mission trips, i got an email forward from one of the missionaries in colombia who we worked with. here's a portion of it that made my day...
"Just wanted to share some new news about the kids in
Belen. After Allen's group came in January, the young
ladies are now rotating in teaching the children in a
Saturday afternoon class. Six of the young ladies
were with Allison and Mellie when they did VBS with
the children in the neighborhood and "learned" how to
teach children. They love doing it! And what a
blessing for all! The group attendance continues to be around 17 or 18.
God is good!"
Um, how awesome is that? to know something you did had an impact on the kingdom & helped others have an impact, too is the most incredible blessing ever. cool!
leatherheads also came out this weekend. cute movie- i mean, i probably wouldn't go see it in the theater if i wasn't in it, but it really was decent for what it was. i laughed aloud in the wynnsong because i saw my mug in the background of the 2nd speakeasy scene. when george is talking at the bar this crazy chic in red is on the right side of the screen by the piano with mr. randy newman. friggin hilarious & awesome.
finally, my best guy friend from high school got married this weekend & oh my goodness was it fun. from bachelorette hilarity on thursday night to a bridesmaid luncheon & rehearsal/reh. dinner friday and of course the wedding saturday, it was a blast. i don't usually cry at weddings- even when it's people i know, but i'll tell you what, i cried at one part and one part only. someone started singing watermark's "knees to the earth" and leigh & gray went to the little white altar to pray for each other & it just really touched me. he had his arm around her waist & his eyes clenched tight with tears still managing to escape, praying as hard as he could for his new wife. god i can't wait to have someone do that for me. i so look forward to being loved as christ loved the church. don't get me wrong, i've never been the type who's dying to get married, but i look forward to the day when it comes. i know gray is going to do an amazing job as a husband. he's one of the most extraordinary guys i've ever met- he has a huge heart & he'd truly do anything for anyone. he's been there for me so many freakin times i'm about to cry right now again thinking about it. leigh is so so lucky & i'm looking forward to the great things God does in their lives!
as i approach another week, i pray for opportunities to share love to all whose paths i cross. God has given me so much & blessed me so stinkin much i have to overflow it out to others! give freely of all you have. thank you, God.
