God's Promise

so this hasn't been the best weekend to say the least. i've spent most of it in the vet ER. yay. the end of last week my doggie started getting sick- we thought he may have had a UTI and possibly a kidney stone which would be totally weird because he's only 11 months old. we took him to the vet & they did x-rays & ultrasounds & ended up performing emergency surgery. apparently he had an umbilical hernia when he was born & the bladder hadn't fully attached to where it was supposed to- there was a big gap. they found red & white blood cells & crystals in his bladder, so they cleaned it out & closed up the gap & sent him back home.

the next day he was in even worse shape. he'd just stand in one place for 2 hours not moving, throwing up, all this stuff. we took him back to the vet & the tech there pretty much said this looks really bad. his phosphorous count is super high which is a sign of kidney failure. they had him on IVs pumping fluids into him bc he was severly dehydrated & they were trying to get his kidneys to work. nothing was helping so they had us speed him over to the emergency vet hospital.

his belly was huge (another sign of kidney failure) & we pretty much all cried & said goodbye to little buster who would be 1 this Friday. they said they'd try to do what they could to save him, but we'd just have to see. as we were leaving we saw a little sheltie have a heart attack & die in the waiting room. i was like GET ME OUT OF HERE. well, around 10pm that nite the ER vet doctor called & said that after doing some blood work, he found that buster's bladder had actually "sprung a leak" and the urine was all up in his abdomen- causing the bloating, nausea, toxins, & high phosphate count. they did an ab tap & drained that. they also brought over a "board certified internist" (what the?) to do exploratory surgery (what the again?) to figure out the problem.

this specialist found 2 stones causing the blockage, worked them up into his bladder & was able to retrieve them. then he found the leak & stitched it up. they had to get buster stable & he had to fight to make it through the nite. meanwhile my family is praying like nobody's business. well, MIRACULOUSLY, he made it & after visiting him the last few nights in the hospital he's coming home today. they all kept saying "he's a miracle dog, he's a miracle dog." going from crying & saying bye to him to heading over to pick him up and bring him home was quite the rollercoaster. praise God for healing- not just in people, but in animals, too because who are we kidding- they're part of our families.

my (e)scort of a car has been ackin a damn fool, too. i went up on yahoo answers (my favorite) and had some people give me ideas of what it could be. my dad is working on it as we speak...er as i type. and thankfully it's nothing too major. hooray! so in conclusion, after being at a super low point with car problems (and knowing i can't afford to fix something serious) and the potential loss of a pet, i've trusted & kept the faith & the continuous prayer even though things were looking grim. i walked outside the other day when everything was craptastic & this is what i saw:

it was right in the yard!!! wow. i knew at this point that everything was going to be ok. it wouldn't necessarily work out how i want it to- buster could have died & my car could have blown up & left me rideless, but God is still good & his promise to me was staring me right in the face. God worked his healing & I'm so thankful for it. it's just my sign to never stop trusting. God is alive & still active in the miracle business. i'm going to be praying more & more for people dealing with sickness in their families- i'm sitting here freaking about a dog, but some people are dealing with spouses, parents, children, siblings, themselves. God give them a peace, healing, & hope! My friend Wade Joye & his wife just had premature twin girls & have been praying like crazy for healing for them. I've been lifting them up and you should, too. If you have any prayer requests you'd like me to pray for just shoot me a comment or message or however this thing works & I'd be happy to.

"Things in our lives may seem to be going all wrong, but God knows our circumstances better than we do. And He will work at the perfect moment if we completely trust Him to work in His own way & in His own time."

The last thing I'll share is this: I have the best friends ever. I've had people praying for buster since last week. Also, I wrote something on facebook asking my friends to share memories to make me smile or laugh because I just needed some laughter after the tense weekend. Well, I got a bunch of responses & laughed my head off. Thanks, y'all, for taking a few minutes out of your busy lives to be selfless & write something to make me smile. I really appreciate it. Love you all.
