sittin on the dock of the bay

i was about to clean my room, but decided to put it off by blogging. good call, right?

i can't remember if i ever wrote about how good the copeland/lydia/lovedrug/lights concert was at new brookland. i went by myself, but ended up seeing lots of people i know. a lot of my friends think i'm weird for going to dinner or a movie or a concert by myself. i like it sometimes, though. that's not weird, is it? i don't care if it is. anyway, i saw friends & watched all the bands- great great show & super fun nite.

homeless for the homeless also finally went down after months of prep. it was amazing. matt crawford & i worked on the fear & darkness station and it turned out so sick. the whole walkthru was rad. i sat behind the big screen in the dark, freezing by myself, but loving it. i had 4 hours back there to talk to God, imagine the faces of the people watching the screen, dance around to untitled #8 five bajillion times hoping no one would walk in & see, etc. matt was at formal with sara so i had to take on the scary task of pushing the play button each time by myself. if you know me, lots of times i make things go wrong with technical stuff -even when just pushing a button- (ha) so the fact that there was only 1 mishap was a miracle.

i couldn't see or hear anything in the room behind the screen so my cues for the play button were 1)seeing the lights of the candles make the screen turn orange & then all go out & 2)hearing the guide say "please blow out your candles." well, i'd done the first 2 groups a-ok & was waiting for my next group/cues....still waiting. so michael bailey comes back & asks if things are going alright & i'm like "yeah, going great. just waiting on the next group" and that man talkin bout "oh they're out there waiting for it to start." i was like "what!? where??" haha. i found out later that the guide had them blow out their candles before they came in the room so i never saw the lights or heard anything. i told michael to make sure all the guides knew what to do & after that i never missed another one. phew.

the next day we had free haircuts, foot care, health screenings, job training, donations, etc. for the homeless who were bussed into the fairgrounds. it was awesome! there was some music playing & mr. willie & an older volunteer woman dancing and the next thing i knew, my dancing shoes had taken me up there with them & the rest is history. a bunch of people came up & started dancing with us & we literally had a dance party with the homeless. best time ever. cupid shuffle = <3

thanksgiving was the bomb. food, family, laughter, great times. favorite! we enjoyed the day with my dad's mom & those aunts/uncles/cousins on thursday and then went to my mom's mom's on sunday night. it was our 1st thanksgiving without my grandfather, which was tough, but we talked & laughed about funny memories & stories and really enjoyed our time together. i'm so so thankful for all of the blessings in my life. i get choked up thinking about how great God is to me. when i complain because i don't have a boyfriend or a better car or what the heck ever, i want to punch myself in the eye. seriously, look around & be amazed.

the Unforgettable Jewelry billboard went up on the 25th & will be up until christmas day. total hilarious cheesy awesomeness. so excited about my 1st billboard! next on my to-do list is to be in a music video. it'd be so fun to be one of the "cool girls" in a good band's video like jimmy eat world or something. i'd def. settle for shakin somethin in a TI video, too, though. true.

my apartment complex is the jam & has parties every now & then so the other nite i went with jon & suz to get free massages & wine & snacks at the clubhouse. wonderful.

also rolled to charleston for the nite friday to see needtobreathe & stay with my cuz. way fun. saw me some kim j & lauren s- love those mugs! lauren had asked me to introduce her little sister to the guys in the band so i did & i could tell she was super excited : )

finally, last nite one of my friends had a 30th birthday party & had asked me, josh ridings, & andrew to sing for her & her guests at the rutledge chapel after food & drinks at senate plaza. 1st of all, oh my yum to the food & drinks part (fried okra, bbq sandwiches, diprato's pimento cheese dip, fresh fruit, sweet potato fries, beer- so good). we did some songs she had requested including some james taylor, otis redding, tim mcgraw, & also some hymns & after practicing for literally no exaggeration 3 minutes in the parking lot right beforehand, i think we did good!

sorry it's so dark!

if you went to USC and esp. went to SNA (sunday night alive) a few years back you would remember scattered hotdog. ha. that's josh & andrew's SNA band. it consisted of the 2 of them singing & jeff vitters & robbie woodard sitting in the background playing cards & throwing hotdogs into the crowd. let me just tell you that one nite they played R. Kelly's ignition remix & dedicated it to my dad when he was at SNA with me. best nite of my life. i laughed for hours literally. i really really miss singing with josh. homeboy is crazy & so fun to sing with. i can remember sitting up in the compound house practicing for FCA & just laughing & playing guitar & singing forever. love it. if anyone ever just wants to get together & play & sing please let me know bc i really enjoy doing that just for fun.

now mr. blog, you're updated & we're moving along fast as lightening through december. i haven't done 1 second of christmas shopping, but i did send the little boo i sponsor in Guatemala a little something. <3
til next time, i'm out!
