yo, that block is red like the color of an apple, what

i went to my last home visit of the day (this one was actually at a daycare) and saw one of my favorite little boys. i know you aren't supposed to have favorites, but whatev. well this little boo is my boy! he's adorable & thuggy & makes the funniest faces. he's delayed in speech & doesn't make hardly a sound and he's almost 2 and 1/2 years old. so we're playing & i'm trying to encourage him to make sounds and imitate me any way i can. i pull out my toy microphone & literally make up a rap about the blocks we're playing with, of course dancing to it, too. how bout that mug starts dancing with me & trying to sing/rap along. it was hilarious & so awesome. we had the best time & when my hour was up i told him bye & his face squinched up & huge tears welled up in his eyes. i told him i'd be back next week to play again and gave him a hug & he started crying so hard. it broke my heart! to know that he didn't want me to go, that he made huge progress today actually making sounds/words, & that i'm doing a job that i not only enjoy, but is totally beneficial to others (esp. kids) makes me so happy. i can't wait to see him again next week!
