Sing Over Me, Satan SEPT. 6, 2007

i love shane & shane- i've loved them for a good while. i've decided that when i get to heaven shane barnard's voice will be singing to welcome me. no doubt. i've seen them several times live & each time i swear they can't get better, but every single time...they do. they just had a new cd come out last tuesday (yes, i've preordered it) and i'm so excited. i saw them live a few weeks ago & let's just say some of their new stuff is insane.

they played my new favorite song, "embracing accusation" and I wanted to share the story shane barnard told us about the song. he was walking on the beach in new hampshire about to play a concert & he'd had a terrible day, feeling really defeated and crappy. he couldn't get a voice out of his head that kept growing louder- almost deafening, telling him how much of a failure he is. he'd tried to "live right" and follow the laws of the Bible for so long & fallen short every time. this day was especially bad. he'd read a passage earlier that day from Galations that the devil was using to continue to bring him further down. satan was using God's very words to defeat shane. louder & louder still he heard satan screaming "Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law..." Gal. 3:13. needing desperately to stop the voice, shane opened his Bible to realize that the verse didn't stop at that. as he kept reading, it continued with "...but Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us." what hope, he thought, and the voice immediately ceased. he wrote this song from that experience. i can't get it out of my head-it's hauting me ( in a good way) and i believe this is my favorite shane & shane song of all time. if you ever get the chance to see them live- go. and if they play this live, you will most likely have an out of body experiece- i did. very powerful-

go listen to it here:
Embracing Accusation

and follow along with these lyrics:
"Embracing Accusation"
the father of lies
coming to steal, kill, and destroy all my hopes of being good enough
i hear him saying cursed are the ones who can't abide
he's right, halleluia, he's right
the devil is preaching the song of the redeemed
that i am cursed and gone astray
i cannot gain salvation, embracing accusation
could the father of lies be telling the truth of God to me tonite?
if the penalty of sin is death, then death is mine
i hear him saying cursed are the ones who can't abide
he's right, halleluia, he's right
oh the devil's singing over me an age old song
that i am cursed and gone astray
singing the first verse so conveniently over me
he's forgotten the refrain
JESUS SAVES
